What can Aquasphere goggles be used for?

No other use than in a swimming on water surface in pool or ocean/sea/ lake/rivers. Not tested for any other use.

Do the Aquasphere goggles protects against UV

in our Eyewear, we talk about Visual light transmission (V.L.T) that measures the amount of the outside light that is transmitted through the lens and reaches the eye.

The highest the V.L.T% is, the most light is filtered out.

Example: A lens Silver Titanium mirror has a V.L.T of 11%, which means that only 11% of light reaches the eye / 89% of the light is being filters or reflected out of the eye.

I am allergic to Rubber / Plastic, do Aquasphere goggle contain some?

Our goggles’ skirts that are directly in contact with the wear’s skin when worn, are either made out of Silicone or Softeril material. Only the Softeril contains TPR (Thermo-plastic Rubber).

Therefore, if a person is allergic, they should choose a Silicone base skirt goggle such as Vista.

What is the difference between goggles and mask? What is most adapted to me ?

Aquasphere is specialized in swim eyewear, we strive to equip all swimmers with the best eyewear possible that is adapted to their discipline and their level of use.

Open water swimming: Swimming conditions can be unpredictable and sometimes terrifying, the comfort and field of vision are the most important points, which is addressed in eyewear throughs single lens mask which offers greater comfort and wider field of vision.

Multisport triathlon: Athletes needs to spot the buoys and landmarks, when keeping good stability on their eyewear especially at the start of the race. Performance in triathlon = Swimming straight + Swimming fast. This is addressed with macro gasket (outer eye fit) with bigger lenses, that offers a wider field of vision and ensure protection of the swimmer’s eye during high contact start.

Competitive swimming in pool, what’s the most important is the hydrodynamic and stability, smaller gaskets, such as micro gasket (inner eye fit) are therefore most recommended , they sit closer to the eye, reduce dragging in the water when allowing for great stability when diving and flip-turning

Fitness and learn to swim seek comfort above all, and are more price sensitive category, one-piece goggles are more relevant in this case.

I regularly get fog on my goggle why ? And what can I do?

Fog is the result of a natural phenomena called condensation.
When warm, humid air reaches a cold surface, water vapor will settle on the glass surface causing reduced visibility.

To reduce this impact, we’re applying an antifog treatment on the inside of the lens.

After couple of usages and due to natural sweating and vaporization of that sweat, skin fat and dead skin can block antifog coating. Over time, the antifog coating can deteriorate.

careful do not rub the inner lens with a cloth, this will damage the treatment.

It is possible in some case that a defect in production happened – please ask the consumer to send pictures for check and in doubt to send the product itself.

However, there are also a few tips that can help reducing fog from appearing:

Put on dry face (to reduce the water quantity inside the goggle that will ultimately transform into fog when heating up against the face during the effort).

Do not dip your goggles into water before use, as this will saturate the antifog treatment (see this as a sponge that absorbs moisture).

Let your goggle air dry after use so that the antifog treatment dries up too (like a sponge) and is efficient again next time.

Clean up, from time to time, with antifog solution to remove excess of body oil and dead cells that naturally accumulate on the lens's surface blocking the antifog proprieties, rinse with clear water and let air dry before using. (avoid hot water).

Be careful do not rub the inner lens with a cloth, this will damage the treatment.

How to best maintain my goggle and care for it?

Swim eyewear is the most important piece of equipment in your gear bag, you can swim without fins, snorkel, paddles and even without swimwear if you’d wanted to, but swimming without goggles is impossible.

Therefore, choosing the right google for you and caring for them is very important .Here is a few tip to help caring for them and ensure you can use them for a longer period of time.

Rinse with clear and fresh water after use (non-chlorinated, non salted water), avoid use of hot water that could damage the lens treatments.

Let it air dry to prevent mold.

Use a protective case with ventilation option (mesh material, eyelets…): this will protect your goggle against scratches, avoid damage on lens treatments (such as anti-fog), and the ventilation avoids the formation of mold.

Clean the lens and skirt up, from time to time, with antifog solution to remove excess of body oil and dead cells that naturally accumulate blocking the antifog proprieties and sealing proprieties of the skirt.

Be careful do not rub the inner lens with a cloth, this will damage the treatment.

Can I change the lens on my goggles?

Not all our goggles offer interchangeable option, to date our Eagle goggles are the only Aquasphere goggles where it is possible to remove the lenses and switch them with optical correction lenses from -1 to -6 pts diopters. Diopters can be bought separately to ensure you can adapt the correction depending on your needs.

What is the difference between a regular and compact/small fit?

The difference of fit allows to ensure all consumers finds their best fit. The small/compact fit will fit smaller face types such as women and young adults.

What is the difference between a Kids and Junior fit?

The difference of fit allows to ensure all consumers finds their best fit.
Kids fits 3yo+

Junior fits 6yo+

How do we remove the film on the lenses?

The only film that can be found on the Aquasphere goggles is the outer lens protection film. It is there to protect the lens during the shipping and all the product time until it reaches the final user.
This film is clearly identifiable and has to be removed before use.

Warning: Different from diving mask, There is no inner film that needs to be removed before use. If something seems to appear on the inner lens, it is most probably a defect. Under no circumstance should the user try to scrub the inner of the lens as they will ultimately damage the lens totally.

What neoprene is used on Aquasphere suits?

All our Wetsuits are made out of the best-in-class Neoprene quality: Yamamoto with SCS coating.

Yamamoto neoprene is widely recognized as the thinnest, lightest, warmest neoprene available in the market.
It offers:

High heat retention: decreasing body fatigue and improving performance.
Because Yamamoto uses Limestone instead of petroleum the limestone neoprene has over 30% more air bubbles than the oil based neoprene. This means the Yamamoto suits are 30% warmer. This increase in warmth means you can wear a thinner suit and still stay warmer and more comfortable in the water for a lot longer.
The bubbles are actually individual cells filled with Nitrogen Gas (not air) which provide amazing heat retention and an increase in efficiency.

Flexibility: allows for greater flexibility of movement when swimming and reduces muscle tiredness .
Yamamoto suits have 30% more stretch than oil-based suits. Because there are 30% more air bubbles in the Yamamoto Limestone Neoprene. This increase in tiny air pockets makes the Limestone neoprene a lot less dense which means it has a lot more stretch than oil-based neoprene suits which have a lot less air pockets (higher density).

Low water resistance: the Coating repels water. Super low resistance of SCS in the water makes it possible to swim much faster.

What is the difference between Yamamoto 38, 39 ; 40, 45?

Yamamoto is a Japanese neoprene supplier, offering different neoprene grade.
The higher the grade the better the performance as shown on the ratings here by.
At Aquasphere we’re using Yamamoto quality on all our triathlon and Open water wetsuits as industry standard and symbol of quality.

Why do I need a wetsuit in triathlon and why is it different from a diving wetsuit?

Each sport has its own needs. In triathlon, needs are different vs. dive or surfing.

Beyond just keeping you warm in colder water; a triathlon wetsuit must fulfil some requirements such as:

Flexibility and freedom of movement: stretchable and thin material in the arm/under arms/ lats area will allow for an easier movement saving energy while swimming.

Buoyancy: Adding thicker neoprene panels or increasing the level or air in the neoprene on strategic area of the suit, helps improving the wearer's natural position in the water, limiting resistance of the body against the water. This ultimately results in saving energy and gaining speed (see picture below)

Neck comfort: Because of natural arms and neck movement during swimming, the collar construction is very important to avoid chaffing.

Easy release: in triathlon the transition from swimming the biking is timed. Wasting too much time there can make you loose a racer. Removing a wetsuit can be tricky, therefore the conception of the suit should be made so it becomes easier to remove the wetsuit.

Glide : The coating of the wetsuit in glide skin is essential to enable a better performance in the water versus a jersey finishing. The water repels on the surface, and the body glides , like a surfboard !

Also chosen properly , a wetsuit can become a competitive advantage and help achieving a better performance

In the water.

What is the composition of the SEA-CLR antifog solution?

Contains (Reg. EC 648/2004) : 3% <15% non-ionic surfactants, <3% 2-fenossietanolo fenil glicol,

perfumes, phenols and halogenated phenols, anionic surfactants.
Anti fog spray for swimming goggles and diving masks. Do not spray into your eyes. Do not use on contact lenses. Do not swallow. Keep out of reach of children. Do not expose to sunlight.

Instruction: Spray the product onto the surface of the goggles or of the mask from a distance of 10 cm. Rinse once gently into clear the water, let air dry.
